Read today's Episode of the Ability Series.
Thank you for joining us yesterday for the Medical and Welfare Outreach for Persons with disabilities.
Below is another Testimony of Sustainable development from disability to a point of attained Success.
My name is Akindele Godwin Olajide, a Nigerian of Yoruba extraction.
It all started when I was 4 months old, a sister of mine carrying me on her back accidentally sat on my left leg while going out in a car, On arrival back home, it was discovered that a bone had broken in the leg and I was immediately taken to the hospital for care, but unfortunately the doctor in charge did not perform his duties well enough.
After several operations (4 or more) the bones did not seem to heal, and gradually it shrank to half its original size ( of which when I grew up, I had to rely on a pair of shoulder crutches to move around).
Later in time, I was taken out of the hospital so as to start school and my parent had to always back me to school and pick me up after, and this continued for some years until I was introduced to the use of pair of crutches.
I used crutches as a means of mobility through all my primary and secondary school days, and getting into higher institution was very difficult but it finally happened, and I was faced with difficulty of climbing a two story building to receive lectures, before a time when some students volunteered to be carrying me until i told them down.
As I would have it, I had to look for a part time job to sustain myself throughout schoo but I made it all thanks to God.
In all my life, I had been through a lot, but I believed in survival and I never let my situation tie me down to not taking a step towards my success.
Not long ago I just finished some medical procedure that will enable me walk with prosthesis .
My word to the public; No matter the situation, please keep up your strength and get further in life, you might not know what Life has in store for you.
That was just another Story , please share and let's move the motion supporting success for disabled persons. Thanks for reading.
You can still write us your Story
